Handling and Cooperative Care Masterclass

A course specifically for dogs who are sensitive being touched.

Does your dog avoid their collar / harness?

Is it difficult to brush them?

Do they not like vet visits?

Is it difficult to wipe their paws after a muddy walk?

We have developed this course as we regularly see and work with dogs who are sensitive to being touched in some way. It might be that they avoid the collar / harness, or don’t like being brushed. And it can be difficult to know what to do. If this sounds familiar then this course is for you.

Cooperative care is not just teaching dogs to tolerate being touched. It is a process of them being an active participant in exercises, giving them a some control over what is happening and learning when they might need a break. It can change the way your dog feels about being touched and can make life must less stressful for all involved.

The course covers:

  • What is cooperative care?

  • Handling exercises to help with grooming and nail clipping

  • Collar and harness exercises

  • Reading and understanding body language

  • Preparing your dog for vet / grooming visits

This course is ideal for puppies (as preventative care) as well as dogs who already show sensitivies about being touched.

The classes are held indoors at Earswick Village Hall. The course lasts 3 weeks and costs £57.
